Half Ours Named Louisiana’s 2021 Stallion Of The Year

Mr. Tommy Hewett accepted the 2021 Stallion of the Year award for Half Ours.
Presenting the award is LTBA President Warren Harang with
Clear Creek's own Elizabeth LaVoice helping Mr. Tommy.

The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association revealed its divisional champions for the 2021 racing season, which encompassed on-track achievements and leaders in the breeding realm.

Award presentations will be made at the organization's annual awards banquet, which is scheduled for June 11 at Evangeline Downs in Opelousas, La. The state's 2021 Horse of the Year will also be announced at that event.

Half Ours was named the state's stallion of the year. The late son of Unbridled's Song stood at Clear Creek Stud in Folsom, La., prior to his death in a paddock accident in July.

He saw 57 winners from 96 starters in 2021, for earnings in excess of $2.1 million. His runners were led by Standing Perfect, who notched victories in the LA Bred Premier Prince Stakes and Louisiana Legacy Stakes, both at Delta Downs. He also sired stakes-placed runners Our Lost Love, Aw Shucks, and Jimmy Two Times.
