RECORD-BREAKING FASIG-TIPTON TEXAS 2YO SALE POSTS GAINS IN ALL CATEGORIES
...Louisiana-breds were a hot commodity.
The sale topper was a Louisiana-bred daughter of Ide named Tensas Yucatan bought by James Spence for $270,000, the second highest price ever for a filly at the sale. Consigned by TTA Director Eddie Milligan’s Twin Oaks Training Center, agent, the filly worked a co-fastest time of :10 for one furlong in the under-tack show on April 2. Research is underway to find out if this was the fastest time on record for a filly at the sale.
Named Tensas Yucatan, the second foal of the Dehere mare Xylophone was purchased for $14,500 in the name of Ideal Partners at the 2005 Fasig-Tipton Texas August yearling sale.
"I was surprised," said consignor Eddie Milligan of Twin Oaks Training Center. "I knew I had a lot of action and I knew she'd sell really well, but I really didn't have any idea how high."
"She went a little higher than I thought but I think she's special," trainer Nicks said. "It's a lot for a Louisiana-bred, but she's fast and she makes no mistakes."
It was the highest price at the sale since subsequent Grade 2 SW and $388,850 earner Bwana Charlie sold for $240,000 in 2003.
