2/22/05 - Michael and Penny Lauer have sold Indiana-bred stakes winner and possible classics contender SNACK to J. Paul Reddam, who has transferred the son of Afternoon Deelites to Southern California-based trainer Doug O’Neill. Michael Lauer confirmed the transaction on Tuesday when Snack departed Lauer’s stable and was shipped to O’Neill’s barn at Holly-wood Park. SNACK has won three straight stakes, including a pair of sharp victories in the Turfway Prevue Stakes and WEBN Stakes at TurfwayPark to start his three-year-old campaign. SNACK closed his two-year-old season with a win in the Indiana Fu-turity at Hoosier Park. He has won four of eight starts, has never finished worse than third, and has earned $97,400.

2/05/05 - SNACK, c. 3, Afternoon Deelites- Miss Riverton, by Fred Astaire won his third stakes in a row as he took the WEBN S.Turfway Park for owner/breeders Penny S. Lauer and Michael Lauer. He is trainer by his onwer/breeder. Lifetime: 8-4-2-2, $97,400.

Mud was the order of the day at Turfway Park but Snack showed his affinity for the off track scoring with a charge from last in the $43,500 WEBN Stakes for three-year-olds. Indiana-bred Snack earned his third straight stakes win. He entered off a 3 1/4-length victory in the 6 1/2-furlong Turfway PrevueStakes, also run over a muddy track, on January 8 in his seasonal debut. Snack was trying two turns for the first time in the WEBN, but trainer Michael Lauer had no doubts about his ability. “That was never a thought in my mind,” Lauer said. “He has a half brother that won at a mile-and-a-half, so I wasn’t worried about it.He’s got the pedigree. I wasn’t worried about the two turns. Now,how far [beyond that], I don’t know. But he ran very impressively today.” Snack placed in all six of his starts as a two-year-old, including a victory in the Indiana Futurity on November 11 at Hoosier Park.

(Ky.. He was a $20,000 2003 KEESEP. graduate. He’s Royal Dee rated in sixth under Elvis Perrodin through a half-mile before being steered out in the turn for his rally. He passed four rivals in the stretch and just got up in time over Biloxi Breeze.He’s Royal Dee is one of two winners out of the Key to the Mintmare Half Crown, who is a half sister to Grade 2 winner Pine Danceand stakes winner Village Dancer.

1/8/05 -SNACK, c. 3, Afternoon Deelites- Miss Riverton, by Fred Astaire ralled from 4th at the top of the stretch to win his second stakes in a row as he took the TURFWAY PREVUE S. at Turfway Park over a muddy track.He is owned and was bred by by Penny S. Lauer; and Michael Lauer and is trained by Michael E. Lauer. His record stands at Lifetime: 7-3-2-2, $72,600.

The finish in the Turfway Prevue, the first of three Turfway prep races for three-year-olds leading up to the Lane’s End Stakes (G2) in March, marked a repeat performance for Snack, who closed out 2004 by rallying from ninth place to win the Indiana Futurity on November 7 at Hoosier Park. Snack has won three of his last four starts. He won the Indiana Futurity by a half-length and won a maiden race at Hoosier on September 9. He has hit the board in all seven of his starts, including a third-place finish to Bruce On the Loose in the Hillsdale Stakes on October 2 at Hoosier.
